Hello! It’s Lauren here from fashion blog Your Only Black Swan.

I’m sure most of you would agree Beginning Boutique is kicking butt with all their hot new arrivals and killer range. From stylish everyday wear to sassy ensembles to get the party started… you will be no doubt be looking your best this summer. One of my favourite Aussie labels Staple has also hit the store, offering a contemporary twist to quality basics making them versatile than ever before.

As soon as I saw the High Knit Dress at BB, I first thought of teaming it up with statement heels and nothing more, though as soon as I tried it on, I realised the back design should take centre stage. Due to the snug, bodycon fit I was able to wear the mini dress as a top, tucked into these printed palazzo pants – should I say this piece is now in fact a two-in-one! Hooray for innovative dressing! Another wonderful thing about this dress/top is the optional key-hole back. You’ll be asking yourself whether to clip/or unclip? Tough one… but I prefer it clipped like I have worn here.

Everyone loves that Friday feeling, including us girls at Beginning Boutique. We live for the weekend and that's why we've got a closet bursting with gorgeous get-up-and-go outfits and accessories that will take you from the beach, to the coffee shop, to the club without stopping.

This morning I raided the beautiful BB closet and raided pulled some of my favourite weekend looks featuring this season's most coveted trends.

Summer is heating up fast, which means weekends at the beach filled with sun, surf and swimwear. Drooling over the stunning range of bikinis and onesies on the beachwear rack, I fell in love with the Mouille Sophia Bikini. The high waisted bottoms simply scream rockabilly pin-up girl, one of my favourite trends at the moment. The sheer detail on the top is the winner for me though - it can totally be translated from sophisticated beachwear chic, to festival grunge if teamed with a pair of denim shorts and ankle boots. Inject a hint of colour into this look with bright nails and boho bracelets.

Combining comfy, key pieces with the class of intricate detail is the key to creating casual daywear for every occasion. This is my dream look for a relaxed, Sunday session - the Free Spirit Mini Skirt and One Teaspoon Love Street tank.

On September 22, Beginning Boutique intern, Kate ventured to America for a 2 week soiree in the Big Apple, NY. Here she documents her adventures.

I had high expectations of New York, home of the atypical fashion editor and high society girl.

Upon touch down at JFK, I was overcome by a wave of nervous energy. A particularly energised taxi ride en route from the airport to Manhattan did nothing to quell my nerves. My accommodation in Chelsea - a quaint studio apartment - was perfectly located between Greenwich Village and Midtown, within walking distance of the subway (and Barneys Coop - as I later discovered).

I had compiled a list of must-sees prior to leaving Australia, but threw the list aside in favour of wandering the streets of a different area of the city everyday. I star spotted in the Village, admired the view from the top of the Rockefeller Centre, saw the XX, Delphic and Temper Trap live, biked around Central Park, ate some delicious food (bagels for breakfast were a favourite), met wonderful new people and shopped 'til I dropped (Zara was visited and revisited almost daily).

The weather was all over the show, from steaming hot weather to freezing cold nights. Rain set in from time to time, so style was thrown out the window in some circumstances. On the whole, NY girls were sporting lace-up boots, long skirts with oversized knits and floppy hats.

Bikes were as commonplace as pigeons in the city centre

Admiring the bright lights of Times Square. Note to self next time I travel: Avoid Times Square on weekend nights for fear of being trampled by swelling masses of tourists.

I can't wait to visit New York again, it's an amazing place with an electric energy like nothing I've ever experienced.

Excuse our informal writting style, but it's been a long day!

Monday has been an interesting day with some highlights and lowlights. I feel cruel naming low lights (let's just say part of RTW show 1) so let's focus on the highlights!

Morning started with the mermaids of Seventh Wonderland. Hair slicked and beautiful. The style was all about their signature cut outs, more laced ups and the print dujour was hippie swirls. Overall the range was enchanting, music enticing but difficult to image on the beach. However, I have not seen the entire collection as yet.

Lucette was beautiful - a highlight of the day - with carefully placed plating, metallic detailing and harnesses. The outfits were hard to imagine translating to regular day-to-day wear as styled, but with creative flair you could have a wicked outfit in the making! So much chain, leather and stud detailing!

Uscari had a few great pieces think silk basics dressed up, cool leather detailing,

neutral colours and interesting head pieces. Story by Tang in the same show had rocking shoes by fairground. I have seen this entire collection previously, and was upset to see she had left out my favourite pieces! However, there was great blazer detailing and the amazing peach and

blue tiedye fabric looked ever-so soft! Carly Hunter - same show again - silk basics, polka dots and a burka made appearances. Really great debut - great detailling in the back of

the dresses.

Lastly Bec & Bridge tonight however that hasn't been yet. Already I have been seeing their loyal army proudly wearing their pieces all around.

Key Trends: Neutrals (to the max - peaches to mud clays), attention to detail (chains, leather, studding) and bloggers everywhere (it's not a fashion party without a gazillion street photographers!)

RAFW Day 1

Australia's premier fashion event kicks off today in Sydney at circular quay. Royal Australia Fashion Week is the must-see destination for Australian designer fashion. Beginning Boutique will be on the scene to find new designs for our summer collection!

Today we will be previewing Seventh Wonderland, Bec & Bridge and a group show featuring Uscari.

Personally I'm excited for the first look at Uscari - I hope it's a fantastic, lust-worthy collection.
